The system is aimed at recyclers, extruders and moulders.Triton’s latest software now enables the system to assist in identifying unknown polymers. John Duncan, managing director, explains: “The polymer identification function is based on measurements of thermo-mechanical properties by the identiPol instrument – for example melting point. We will continue to develop and improve the identification algorithms used by the identiPol to further extend the number of materials that can be reliably identified”. Beyond its use to identify materials, the identiPol QA provides users with “rapid, easy-to-interpret information on the quality and expected performance of incoming raw material,” says Triton. Duncan continues: “The presentation of this information has been further improved following revision of the user interface based on customer feedback. We want to help moulders reduce the risks of incorrect or poor material being used in their machinery, or of substandard performance by the final product. With an identiPol system moulders can expect to reduce waste as well as improve cost-effectiveness and efficiency.” As well as dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA. DMTA) and dielectric thermal analysis (DEA, DETA) equipment, Triton designs and manufactures ovens covering a wide temperature range. The company is accredited to ISO 9001.
